The beginning of something big
The basis for the Ayitepa Wind Farm was laid in 1998, when our Swiss engineering department NEK Umwelttechnik AG started first activities including wind measurements in Ghana regarding the implementation of renewable energy projects in Sub-Sahara Africa.

The Wind Farm Ayitepa will have, once fully operational, an installed capacity of 225 MW. It is for the time being the largest and one of the first wind farms in West Africa.

The Ayitepa Wind Farm assists in meeting the ever-increasing demand for electricity in Ghana and West Africa. It will supply the GRIDCo transmission systems with more than 700,000 MWh of clean, locally produced, sustainable and cheap electricity per year.

Each year, the wind farm generates sufficient electricity to meet the needs of more than 150,000 average Ghanaian households.

But it not only produces clean and reliable power: It also benefits the local communities in many ways. You learn more about this pioneering project within this webpage.
